MCB Bank Issues Advisory To Customers On Safe Online Shopping Practices

MCB Bank has issued a public advisory cautioning its customers to remain vigilant while shopping online, especially when dealing with unfamiliar or high-risk merchants. The bank warned that fraudsters increasingly use fake websites and merchants to steal personal data and financial information, urging users to prioritize safety when making digital transactions. The advisory stresses the importance of only using trusted websites, verifying security indicators such as “https://” and the lock icon in the browser, and never disclosing sensitive information like OTPs or PINs to anyone, even if they claim to be from the bank.

According to MCB Bank, cybercriminals continue to exploit unsuspecting customers through fraudulent schemes, often targeting online shoppers. The bank advised customers to conduct proper due diligence before making payments in advance, especially when offers seem suspiciously attractive or “too good to be true.” It also emphasized the need for customers to review merchant ratings, feedback, and credibility prior to completing any transactions. By practicing caution and checking the authenticity of merchants, customers can better protect themselves against scams that aim to compromise financial details.

To assist customers in safeguarding their accounts, MCB Bank outlined several smart safety practices. These include shopping from well-known and reputable online stores, looking out for multiple failed transaction attempts that may indicate fraudulent activity, and reporting any suspicious or unusual activity without delay. The bank also informed customers that they can deactivate online or international payment sessions on their cards through the MCB Live App or by calling the helpline, tailoring usage based on their specific needs. This step allows customers to control their card activity and limit potential risks associated with unauthorized transactions.

MCB Bank reassured its customers that their security remains a top priority, encouraging them to remain alert and protected while engaging in digital commerce. For any unusual incidents or suspected fraud, customers have been urged to immediately contact the bank’s 24/7 helpline at 111-000-622. Through its latest advisory, MCB Bank highlighted that collective vigilance from both customers and the institution is essential to combating online fraud attempts and ensuring safer digital banking experiences in Pakistan.
